As summer fades away and us Trainers prepare for fall, Pokemon Go is having its Autumn Event. From the debut of Deerling to the much anticipated shiny release of Vulpix, and everything in between; Fellowship Games is here to help you make the most of this new season. The Autumn Event will be running from Friday, October 9, 2020, at 8:00 am, to Monday, October 12, 2020 at 1:00 pm local time.
The Features for the event will be:
- During this event, Berries will be twice as effective when you give them as treats to your Buddy Pokémon, and you'll earn twice the usual Candy you normally would when catching a Pokémon that you've given a Pinap Berry to.
- Berries will also be dropping more often when you spin Photo Discs at PokéStops and Gyms.
- You can expect to see the following Pokémon appearing more often in the wild: Oddish, Vulpix, Bayleef, Hoothoot, Sudowoodo, Yanma, Pineco, Zigzagoon, Seedot, Shroomish, Plant Cloak Burmy, and Foongus.
- If you're lucky, you might encounter a Shiny Vulpix as originally discovered in Kanto!
- Autumn-themed Pokémon will be hatching from 5 km Eggs.
- Deerling, the Season Pokémon, will be making its Pokémon GO debut!
Firstly, we'll focus on the berry bonuses. Being able to have your buddy on the map with you for twice as long is something that some Trainers will be excited about and is a nice bonus. However, the double Pinap Berry effectiveness is what I want to focus on. The event some valuable Pokemon such as Bayleef, and Pineco and Shroomish that are kind of on the rare side. These Pokemon are worth giving a Pinap Berry if you need the candy. It is also important to mention that you could get extra candy from Giratina raids if you're bold enough. I would only recommend doing this on a low IV one and if you're a confident thrower to get those excellent curve throws. Of course, this bonus is fantastic of you encounter a shiny one. The other important bonus is the increased Berries from Stops and Gyms. I would use this event to stock up on Pinap Berries. Charmander Community Day is around the corner and having those ready is key if you're looking to max out on the amount of candy from that event. I'm personally using this event to stockpile as many Pinap Berries as humanly possible to get ready for December Community Day. Although December is still a couple of months away it is the most important event of the year outside of something like Go Fest. If You're someone who has missed out on any Community Days throughout the year then I would strongly urge you to start prepping now.
The Pokemon of the event are pretty desirable. Of course, you have the Deerling and shiny Vulpix to get after, and Oddish, Sudowoodo, Yanma, Pineco, Zigzagoon, Seedot, and Burmy all have shiny potentials, but some of the other Pokemon have uses for raiding and the Go Battle League. As far as the Go Battle League is concerned Hoothoot which evolves into Noctowl is a fantastic budget option for the Great League and can be a useful member of your team when the Flying Cup finally happens. Seedot and Shroomish are also great in the Ultra or Great leagues as Shiftry and Breloom. Shiftry did have a Community Day but Snarl is mostly preferred over Bullet Seed, so there is no need to wait for December if you catch a good one. Bayleef is by far the most relevant Pokemon for the Go Battle League. Meganium is one of the top Pokemon in the Great League meta. So make sure to get out there and catch as many Bayleef as possible and even Pinap Berry them if you're a new player that needs the candy. We also have Bellossom and Forretress which are useful for PVP and Breloom is a fantastic budget option as a fighting type meta attacker for raids. Remember that most Pokemon used for PVP need a specific IV spread. In general, you want low attack and high defense and stamina. Download something like Poke Genie from your app store. I highly recommend that app if you have any interest in collecting Pokemon for the Go Battle League.
The main takeaway for you to leave with is to stockpile as many Pinap Berries as possible during this event. Whether you need them for the upcoming Charmander Community Day, or you plan on getting ahead of the game for December Community Day. Focus on Bayleef if you need a Meganium for Go Battle League and make sure you get the proper IV's. Of course make sure to get that Deerling Pokedex entry, and hunt down that shiny Vulpix, as well as any of the other shinnies you need.
