Machop Community Day is fast approaching so today we're bringing you all the tips you'll need to get the most you can out of this event. The event will span from Saturday, January 17, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, with 2 hours afterward to evolve a Machoke the get the exclusive move Payback. as always, I will first go over general tips you'll want to keep in mind for all Community Days, then I will move on to specifics for this event. General Tips
The very first thing you'll want to think about is Pokeballs. This event is all about catching and you can't do that if you have no Pokeballs in your bag. Great and Ultra balls of course the best to have but the catch rate is usually increased for Community day so regular Pokeballs will work. Especially if you practice throwing those excellent curveballs! If you don't have any Pokestops near you, the next best way of accumulating Pokeballs is opening gifts. Make sure you open your 30 gifts every day until the event to stock up. If you have a gotcha to spin stops for you, taking a drive downtown or anywhere with a high number of Pokestops is also a great way to collect Pokeballs. Remember not to play and drive, let the gotcha do it for you!
You'll need to clear out your storage quite a bit if you plan to play the whole time. Especially for this Community day, because of the 3x stardust bonus. Stardust is probably the most precious resource in the game so when a bonus like this happens you'll definitely want to take advantage of it. If you're truly dedicated and play non-stop for the 6 hours, you could probably use 1000 storage. This is a very high-end estimate though, so I would recommend around 500, or whatever you can manage.
Machamp is a great Pokemon to use in pretty much every League as well as being a great raid attacker. This means you'll want all the candies you can get and there is no better time to acquire these candies than during a Community Day with loads of Pinap Berries. Unfortunately, these don't come from gifts, so you'll need to get out there and spin some stops. Make sure to get enough if you want a Machamp for all the leagues. This could cost you 1000+ candies!

3x Catch Stardust! GET HYPED. As I said before, stardust is the most important resource in the game, so a bonus like this is very huge. It's important for all types of players, casual to hardcore. Casual players don't catch as much and won't have too much stardust to power up their favorite Pokemon when they finally catch a good one. Hardcore players catch everything but need so much stardust to power up raid attackers, new Pvp teams, plus all their favorites. So whatever type of player you are, I highly recommend playing this event. It will take twelve Star Pieces total to cover the whole event, which isn't too bad since you get four with the Community Day box. You can also buy 8 in the shop for 640 Pokecoins. So to buy your 12 Star Pieces it will cost you 1920 total. This is definitely costly, but stardust is priceless.
You most definitely want incense on during the entire Community day. Incense leads to more shinies, more chances at Pvp Ivs, more candies. Thankfully this is made easy with three-hour incense during this event. If you buy the Community Day box, you'll come out of Comm day with an extra two incense, since you only need two for the whole event. You can use more during the event for that extra-long grind since each one you use between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm will all last three hours.
Machamp is getting a new move with this event, that being Payback. Machamp is already a monster in the Go Battle League with Rock Slide as a great coverage move. This will probably remain as the coverage move of choice, but we don't actually know the stats for Payback yet. We will be releasing an article about how good the move is once we know more, so stay tuned for that.
There are a couple of ways to increase the number of spawns you get, those being the Snapshop encounters, and the $1 Special Research. I always recommend having a Great Buddy with you for that catch assist, so it takes no extra time to take a quick snapshot while you're bringing them out. The Special Research gives some alright rewards, and it's free this Comm day if you bought the Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto Ticket before January 13th. It includes tasks like transfer 10 Pokemon or power up a Pokemon 10 times, so make sure you find something cheap to power up and the Mons to transfer before the event so you don't have to take time out of your catching. This Community Day box is better than it has been in the past. It always contains one Elite Tm and 30 Ultra Balls, and three of each of two other items including Super Incubators, Lucky Eggs, Star Pieces, or Incense. This time it has four of each of Incense and Star Pieces. It might not seem like a huge increase, but it's a move in the right direction. These are both items that work well this the bonuses too.
