Rank 1 Politoad in Great League

Politoed is one of the many Pokémon that greatly benefited from Niantic's move updates. Weather Ball users like Abomasnow, Pelipper, and both Ninetales became real players in the meta, and are commonly played alongside Politoed. Alolan Ninetales in particular was immediately paired with Politoed as a fantastic core. The pair is very spammy with Water and Ice Weather Balls demanding shields. Alolan Ninetales also covers Grass types that delete Politoed, and can break through the fliers that Politoed has no play against like Altaria. So join us today as we explore four popular Politoed teams from across the internet that are trying to maximize on the potential of Politoed in open Great League. As always we'll be using PvPoke.com for the best Go Battle League simulations. We'll also have plenty of links at the bottom of the article so you can check out all of the awesome content creators that came up with these teams. Politoed

Politoed is a solid lead option, especially when you look at what it wins against. G Fisk and Azumarill still dominate the meta and Politoed is able to break that core. Alolan Marowak is still a popular pick and teams are usually centered around it when it's put on the lead. When we catch it on the lead you force the opponent to swap out which will hopefully allow you to maintain alignment. Swampert is another meta monster and the one shield match up gets pretty close. Bastiodon is often seen on the lead with two Grass types in the back so we will likely see the opponent switch a Grass type in. This Grass-hole team is still seeing serious play, and this is why we have Alolan Ninetales to cover that, and Politoed is often ran with double Ice in the back so this team is very easy for us to beat. For weaknesses Politoed is vulnerable to Grass, Electric, and Fliers that resist Mud Shot and Earthquake. You could run Blizzard to have some play against Altaria, or throw it at a Grass if you were able to farm something down. Thanks to our team compositions Grass types and Altaria are easy for Politoed teams to handle if you have Alolan Ninetales and other Ice types. Electric types like Galvantula can give Politoed teams serious problems. Alolan Ninetales has a positive match up against Galvantula, but the other Ice types like Abomasnow and Froslass get completely wrecked. So if you suspect that your opponent has a Galvantula lurking in the back then make sure to preserve you Alolan Ninetales. Other concerns for Politoed are Toxicroak and Sableye. Toxicroak is likely to be found on the lead and Politoed falls slightly behind in the one shield, but this match could easily flip by a single fast move. Toxicroak wins the one shield by finishing us off with Sludge Bomb, right after we land a Weather Ball that doesn't K.O. One more Mud Shot means we get to land the Earthquake instead which will finish off the Toxicroak. Sableye is another crazy close match up with it surviving the one shield with three HP after getting spammed with Weather Balls. This could honestly come down to the IV's on the Sableye, and again one more Mud Shot could flip this match. Pogokieng's Umbreon Lead Team

Kieng put out this team about a month ago from the time of writing this article and he was already using the Politoed and Alolan Ninetales core with Umbreon on the lead. Umbreon on the lead works well with this team as Umbreon has lots of positive and neutral match ups thanks to its bulk and typing. What I like about this team is that you could easily switch the order around anyway you want depending on your play style. Overall the team jells together very well with Alolan Ninetales covering the fighters that Umbreon is soft to and Umbreon covers Alolan Marowak for Ninetales. Zyonik's Double Ice Team

Zyonik has been advocating the use of Froslass for what feels like forever and for good reason. This is one of the double Ice lines and using Froslass on the safe switch. Powder Snow allows us to deal decent damage and demand shields with heavy hitting charge moves with Avalanche and Shadow Ball, which is the true strength of Froslass. Froslass is pretty squishy so we want to get ahead on energy and try to take as many shields as possible before we go down. However, if you get an opportunity to farm down a Flier or Grass that the opponent swapped into then go for it. A Froslass that is ahead on energy is dangerous in the late game with Shadow Ball having the potential to sweep. Manage your energy well and this team will get you a lot wins as you climb the ranks. FPSticks's Double Ice Team

FPSticks is a content creator that I only recently started watching but he is an excellent teambuilder. He presented this double Ice line but featured Abomasnow in the back with Alolan Ninetales. This team was only made possible thanks to the Weather Ball move update with all three Pokémon sporting the new move. Since the update Abomasnow has become a beast in the Great League with it being able to cover Water and Flying cores with Weather Ball and Energy Ball. Azumarill and Altaria cores are still a relevant threat and Abomasnow puts them in check. Abomasnow really rewards you for predicting the opponent's team as it can align itself perfectly against Water, Flying, and Grass types. You could also use these predictions to keep it away from huge threats that can take advantage of its typing like Fire types and Steels. All three of these Pokémon are amazing investments and will make great additions to your roster. FPStick's Vigoroth Switch Team

Last up we have another team from FPSticks and it is using Vigoroth on the safe switch. Vigoroth has been consistently one of the best safe switch options in the Great League basically since Go Battle League started. Counter chips away at your opponent and Body Slam spam will get you shield advantage or you could even get switch advantage thanks to the decent bulk on Vigoroth. As a counter user it can handle Steels like Galarian Stunfisk and Bastiodon, and has positive match ups against Swampert and Umbreon. It can even swap into Azumarill and Skarmory and do some solid chip damage, which could help you farm with Politoed or Alolan Ninetales. You do need to warry of Fighters but Dazzling Gleam on Alolan Ninetales can cover that. Like the other teams Galvantula is still a problem so remember to keep that Alolan Ninetales fresh because Vigoroth won't be able to take it down.

As you could see all four of these teams are very spammy which is why they all have such high consistency ratings. Weather Ball users are a staple of the Great League and these are some of the best teams that utilize them. The Politoed and Alolan Ninetales core is a force to be recon with. I hope you enjoyed these awesome teams from the equally as awesome content creators. Hit up the links to all of their channels as they're great people and do a huge service to the community. Thanks so much for reading and joining the Fellowship! See you in the next article.
