Shadow Raikou in Go Battle League

If you've been watching our streams for the past couple of days we've managed to hit rank 9 using Shadow Raikou. It's been a super fun Pokemon to use and I was peer pressured into unlocking the second charge move. With both Wild Charge and Shadow Ball we were able to do some serious damage in the mid and late game, all while bringing the pain with a super spicy Pokemon. If you're not following us Twitch then go do that! It would mean a lot and help us out.

During the team-building process, we focused on having a lead and safe switch pairing that helped insolate us from the Pokémon that threaten our Raikou. The key losses we were likely to face are Galarian Stunfisk, Altaria, Alolan Marowak, Galvantula, and Umbreon. I quickly decided to put Azumarill on the lead. Firstly because it adds significant bulk to the team to compensate for how glassy Shadow Raikou is. Azumarill also covers those key losses like Galarian Stunfisk, Ataria, Alolan Marowak, and Umbreon. For the safe switch, we spent a lot of time deciding from things like Vigoroth, Galarian Stunfisk, Skarmory, and Alolan Marowak, with us eventually deciding on the latter. Vigoroth is a fantastic safe switch in the Great League but unfortunately doesn't offer the team much coverage. Galarian Stunfisk and Skarmory are absolute monsters but we become very weak to Grass types if we go with Stunfisk, and other Electric types if we go with Skarmory. Alolan Marowak is our cover for any Grass types, offers good enough coverage against the meta, and is great at applying shield pressure to help us sweep with Raikou. If you're looking to run this team or just Raikou in general then I highly recommend unlocking a second charge move for both Wild Charge and Shadow Ball. Back to back Wild Charges is great at getting shields, but you often want a neutral move for something like a Whiscash. You also don't want to be in a position where you have to throw Wild Charge but then get completely deleted because of the debuff to our defenses. Shadow Ball allows us to throw a move to either get the last shield, or we can take out the Pokemon, and then race to the Wild Charge against what they have in the back. This allows you to put pressure across both of the remaining Pokemon. We ended up unlocking Shadow Ball on stream and it really helped us win more games. We are also running Volt Switch over Thunder Shock which is the recommended move on PvP.com. I very much prefer Volt Switch as it allows us to fire off charge moves much fast, while also hitting pretty hard. Thunder Shock is a faster move in terms of actually turn cycles and would help if the plan was to win with fast move pressure, but unlike other Shadow Pokemon such as Shadow Gardevoir with Charm, we are winning by throwing multiple devastating charge moves. Overall we had tons of fun with this team on stream and had lots of 4-1 sets. I will also add that Umbreon is another great safe switch option and really brings the bulk of the team up. If you want to see this team and future teams in action go follow us on Twitch. We stream Pokemon Go several times a week and other games as well. We'll also be posting a video for this team on YouTube tomorrow so subscribe to us over there and comment on the video to let us know you were there. Lastly, join the Discord to talk all things Pokemon Go and check out our Instagram! Thanks so much for reading and for joining the Fellowship
