The Halloween Cup has been terrifyingly fun with tons of exciting Pokemon getting their chance to shine. Last week we prepared some teams to use in the Halloween Cup that were geared towards having that competitive edge. Today we'll try exploring some spicy Pokemon and do our best to make them work on competitive teams.
Team 1:
Beedrill is powerful on the lead with key wins against popular Pokemon such as Azumarill and Galvantula. We're also using Banette as a closer and a core with Beedrill, relying on Beedrill to takeout the Azumarill and Galvantula match-ups. This core struggles against Alolan Marowak and Crustle so we have Azumarill to round out the team. Banette also covers Azumarill by taking care of the Poison types like Haunter and Tentacruel. It is worth mentioning that Azumarill on the same switch is risky with Galvantula being one of the most popular safe switch options and all of the Poison-types that could come in. I would try to use Beedrill on the lead to pressure shields early to help Banette close late game. If you switch into Azumarill and get countered with Galvantula it is a safe match up for Beedrill to come back in and farm energy.
Team 2:
Dusclops is an exciting option for the Halloween Cup that performs pretty similar to Alolan Marowak with it having both Ghost and Fire-type moves. Hex generates energy like crazy so you can spam Fire Punch or Shadow Punch. Fire Punch adds fantastic coverage against the Bug types and we have Golbat to cover our weaknesses. Golbat is a flexible threat with great coverage on the meta and has Shadow Ball to win the late game. It does a great job of countering the Alolan Marowak and Wigglytuff that beat our Dusclops. Wigglytuff is what we finish our team off with by being an outstanding Charmer that can resist all of the Ghost types. It also gives us an answer to Crustle that the rest of our team struggles with.
Team 3:
This is a double Bug strategy that is trying out Scizor instead of Crustle. Crustle and Galvantula make a solid core but we'll be using Scizor instead and pairing it with Alolan Marowak for our core and put Galvantula on the safe switch. Scizor stomps out Cruslte on the lead and picks up wins against Beedrill and Wigglytuff. Its biggest weaknesses are Galvantula and Toxicroak, which Alolan Marowak beats with ease. Azumarill and Tentacruel are threats to our core so we rely on Galvantula to win those matches. Scizor is fragile so be sure to line it up with good match ups in the mid-game if you lose the lead. This team is low on bulk so you'll have to use your shields properly. It is also worth noting that both Scizor and Alolan Marowak can flip that Azumarill match up with shield or energy advantage. As always, thanks for reading and I hope you've been inspired to try out one of these teams or to make your own team with some added spice.
